This was already my second time visiting Portugal. This time I did not only want to discover the nature in the south, but also the cities in the west of the country.
I flew to Faro and discovered this small city. First I had to visit a beach near the city and enjoy an ice cream there. I really liked the architecture of the city. Everything felt slower and quieter than in Central Europe.
My second destination was Lagos, which I traveled to by bus. Normally I would explore the Algarve by car, but this time I mainly wanted to visit the cities in the northwest and only spend a few days in the south. I also really liked Lagos, especially the beaches in the surrounding area, which I truly enjoyed. This trip was different from my earlier Algarve visits because I met many new people and shared travel stories with them. After enjoying the south of Portugal, I traveled further north to the capital Lisbon.
I was surprised by how difficult it is to explore this city on foot, as it sits on many hills. The best option for getting around the city is of course to use the tram. These vehicles are not only practical but also a very beautiful experience. With their yellow colors they look particularly lovely in the surroundings of Portuguese culture.
The architecture is truly impressive and there are many ways to enjoy time at the beach. The food, the culture, and the trams impressed me most.
After exploring Lisbon I traveled further north to my next destination: Porto. This city made a very positive impression on me. I remember many street singers and artists. I especially liked the bridge and the river with all its little boats.
Just as in Lisbon, in the surroundings of Porto you can also visit beaches — something that is hard to imagine in Central Europe. I now understand very well why so many digital nomads choose this country as their home.
